Mickey Mantle & Bobby Richardson

The great Mickey Mantle once said to a friend of his... "If I knew I was going to live this long,I'd have taken a lot better care of myself". In eulogizing Mantle at his funeral, sportscaster Bob Costas described him as "a fragile hero to whom we had an emotional attachment so strong and lasting that it defied logic."

Bobby Richardson's manager, Casey Stengel, once said of his 2nd baseman... "He don't smoke, don't drink, don't chew (tobacco), don't stay out late at night.... and still don't hit over .250. But he's the best .250 hitter in the league..."
