Super Bowl Sunday- "MORE THAN JUST A GAME!".........

Posted on 02/05/2012 @ 07:10 AM

Super Bowl Sunday may be the day the NFL crowns a Champion, but, it's much more than that. It's a day of "CONSUMPTION", a day of "OVER INDULGENCE." A day we show the world our excessive material luxury's. The hype, over-the-top display of abundance. Be it by paying thousands of dollars for one football ticket, to spending thousands and thousands of dollars for a stadium executive box suite. Television broadcasters will hype how many private jets landed at the airport bringing fans to the games.

Even our first lady Michelle Obama got into the "HYPE" act this week. A champion for "eating healthier," crusader against "fast food's" and "sugar filled" can's of soda's, the President's wife announced for Super Bowl Sunday we can "forget" all that "eat healthy" hype. The White House Super Bowl Sunday menu will consist of, "bratwurst, kielbasa, cheeseburgers, deep-dish pizza, and Buffalo wings. Not exactly the type menu that fits with her campaign to get Americans to eat healthy and combat obesity. The first lady added, "It's important for families not to think they can "never indulge." Life is about good food, at least in America." So, listen to our first lady Michele Obama, eat-up America , It's Super Bowl Sunday, everything's ok on Super Bowl Sunday!......

With millions of Super Bowl parties planned, Super Bowl Sunday means "1.25 BILLION" (with a B) Wings will be eaten, or four apiece for every man, woman, and child in the U.S. One hundred ton's of chips, 400 ton's of pop-corn, 8 million pounds of guacamole eaten, along with 11 million pounds of cheese.

4.4 million pizza's will be ordered from Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Papa John's. Pizza Huts projecting they will sell more than 2 million pies. To put it in perspective, that's 442 miles of pizza, enough to lap the historic speedway in Indianapolis 175 times. They're prepping for the game with over a "thousand tons" of dough plus 90,000 gallons of marinara sauce. What's America's "favorite" topping? I'll reveal it at the end of the story.....

48 million people will have takeout or delivery food.

If your into healthier foods,(like the White House says we should) 71.4 million pounds of avocados will be eaten as the nation's intake of guacamole peaks. Did you know carrot consumption jumps dramatically over Super Bowl Sunday? Carrot farmers report their sales increase by 28%.

To top off food consumption, drinks are needed. According to "SaveOnBrew.Com, the world's only beer price-search engine, 50 million cases, 10.6 million barrels of beer, will be consumed during today's game. Here's one of the most "important" statistics of the day, all that beer consumption will require the use of more than "2 Billion Gallons of Water to flush toilets."

Super Bowl Sunday is also one of the "biggest" days for drinking alcohol. DUI's increase, auto accidents increase and bar fights across America increase. One Alaskan town, "DILLINGHAM", more than 3,000 miles from Indianapolis, site of today's Super Bowl XLVI, sets aside the town's "Blue" law for Super Bowl Sunday every year. It's become the community of 2,400 residents biggest party of the year. They say today's "party" will be the biggest the town's ever seen.

Super Bowl Sunday has evolved into America's greatest sport's event, but, it's also evolved into one of the nation's biggest days of consumption, over-indulgence. Everything about the Super Bowl week, day, an in-your-face display of excessive behavior. It could also be why many people around the world both admire, and hate us. Even with our economy so bad, unemployment so high, so many losing homes, we shamefully display our wealth, our excessive consumption. Yes, today's Super Bowl Sunday, but, it's much more than just a game.

By the way, America's favorite Pizza topping is the classic "PEPPERONI."
