When it comes to the Super Bowl, "blunders," the "unexpected," have become a regular occurrence. From National Anthem mistakes, to half-time show costume malfunctions, game up-sets. There's always some distraction. Sports biggest event of the year, Super Bowl XLVI is one week away. Last year Grammy winning singer Christina Aguilera messed up the national anthem. With this in mind, the betting industry wants to get in on the act. In addition to the traditional wagers on the game, through online sports gaming website "BOVADA," you will be able to place a bet on whether Kelly Clarkson will mess up this year's national anthem? You can bet on whether Clarkson will miss at least one word or not? You can place a bet on how long it will take her to sing the national anthem? What she will be wearing, or if her bare belly will be showing when she sings? If you pass on Clarkson, you can place bets on the half-time show star "Madonna." You can bet what color her hair will be? Bet if she wears "fishnet stockings?" Or bet if she starts out with a headset or microphone? No, no, no, I'm not making this stuff up.
Super Bowl XLVI is expected to be the "biggest" gambling day in sports history. Over half of adult Americans are expected to have money on the game. Vegas gambling experts project more than "$10 BILLION DOLLARS" being wagered. According to Pregame.com, the largest sports betting site, the new England Patriots are a 3 point favorite over the Giants. Considering the spread and over/under number, Vegas experts say the score will be Patriots 29 - Giants 26. Vegas picks have won 33 of the 45 Super Bowls, being "right" 73% of the time, so you can't ignore them. Giants fans will disagree. They'll say, "HOLD ON", the last time these two teams met the Giants were not given any chance to win. Vegas odds-makers (experts) said "Patriots will win by 12 points!" Remember how that game ended? "Eli Manning" hoisting up the Lombardi Trophy, telling the television audience, "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!".........
Direct TV subscribers can breath a sigh of relief. The fight between Sunbeam and Direct TV over a 300% increase in retransmission fees has been settled. So if your on the Direct TV system there's no fear of a black-out.
Super Bowl games have been known for the unexpected to happen. Were you shaking your head when NY JETS quarterback Joe Namath (Broadway Joe) guaranteed a victory over Baltimore before Super Bowl II? Or three years ago when Pittsburgh's Santonio Holmes lifted the Steelers with his connection from Ben Roethlisberger in Super Bowl XXIII and became the game's MVP. Finally Patriot fans, can you forget the unthinkable "helmet" catch of wide receiver David Tyree's in Super Bowl XLII four years ago that gave the game to the underdog Giants 17 - 14. Will history repeat?
From the national anthems, spectacular half-time show, the game itself, when Super Bowl Sunday arrives always "EXPECT the UNEXPECTED!" Isn't that why we watch?
